Most dealer About Us pages say the same thing: "We offer high-quality sheds and serve the local community." A buyer reads that and learns nothing. Google learns nothing either.

Your About page can do real work. It can answer the questions buyers ask before they call. It can also tell search engines what you sell and where you deliver. Here is how to build one.

What a Great About Us Page Does

Buyers open your About page to decide if they trust you. They want to know who runs the lot, how long you have been there, and whether you deliver to them.

A strong page does three jobs:

  •  It puts a real person and a real story behind your business.
  • It tells buyers what you sell, where you deliver, and how buying works.
  • It gives search engines clear signals about your products and service area.

Keep it short and specific. A few honest paragraphs beat a page of general claims.

The Essential Components

Your BarnDealer site editor gives you headings, bold text, and lists. Use them. Short sections help a buyer scan the page on a phone.

Include these pieces:

  • Your story. Who owns the business, when you opened, and why you started.
  • Your team. Names and roles of the people buyers will talk to, with photos.
  • What you sell. The building types you carry and the manufacturer you work with.
  • Where you deliver. The towns and counties you serve.
  •  How buying works. Ordering, site prep, and delivery in a few simple steps.
  • Your location. Full address, phone number, and hours.
  •  A next step. Tell buyers what to do: browse inventory, call, or visit.

In the editor, pick Heading 2 for each main section, such as "Our Story" or "Delivery Area." Pick Heading 3 for smaller points inside a section. Headings help readers scan and help Google read the page.

How to Rank for Metal Buildings, Sheds, and Nearby Towns

Search engines match pages to the words people type. A buyer types "metal carports near [Town]" or "storage sheds [County] County." Your About page should use those same words in plain sentences.

  • Name your town and the towns around it. Write "We deliver to [Town 2], [Town 3], and all of [County] County." Name the places you serve most. Skip a block of 40 town names.
  • Name the products you sell. If you sell metal buildings, carports, and storage sheds, use those words. List only what you carry.
  •  Put product and town in a heading. For example: "Storage Sheds and Metal Buildings in [Town], [State]."
  •  Match your Google Business Profile. Your name, address, and phone number should read the same on your site and on Google.
  •  State your years in business. "Serving [County] County since [Year]" tells buyers you are established.
  •  Link to your inventory. Link product names to your product pages, so "metal carports" takes a buyer straight to your carports.

No page can guarantee a top spot. Reviews, competition, and your Google profile all play a part. These steps give Google clear facts to work with.

Your BarnDealer website already includes the inventory and product pages your About page links to. We host it, update it, and keep it secure as part of your subscription. If you run your own site, ask yourself: when were your plugins last patched, and who do you call at 11pm when it goes down?

Before and After: Rewrite a Generic Intro

Before: "Located in [Town], [Dealer Name] proudly offers high-quality barns, sheds, and portable buildings to meet a variety of storage needs. We serve the local community and surrounding areas. Visit us today to explore our inventory."

That paragraph names no person, no year, and no towns. "High-quality" gives a buyer nothing to check.

After: "[Owner Name] opened [Dealer Name] in [Year] after years of building sheds for neighbors in [Town]. Today we sell [Manufacturer] storage sheds, barns, and metal carports from our lot at [Street Address]. We deliver to [Town 2], [Town 3], and across [County] County. Our team helps you plan your site before delivery day. Browse our sheds in stock, or call [Phone] to talk with [Owner Name]."

The length barely changed. Every sentence now tells the buyer something real. Use only details that are true for your business.

Go Past Window Dressing: Add Proof Buyers Trust

These details turn your About page into a reason to buy from you:

  • •         Real photos. Your lot, your team, and buildings you delivered. Skip stock photos.
  • •         Customer reviews. Quote real reviews from your Google profile. Never write your own.
  • •         Delivery details. Explain site requirements, ground prep, and truck access. Buyers worry about this step.
  • •         Financing or rent-to-own. Mention it only if you offer it, and link to the details.
  • •         Warranty. If your buildings carry a manufacturer warranty, say who backs it.
  • •         Community ties. Sponsor a ball team or support the county fair? Say so. It shows you are local and here to stay.
  • •         One clear call to action. End with a single step: browse inventory, call, or stop by.

Review the page once or twice a year. New staff, new products, and new delivery towns all belong on it.

Using the About Us editor on BarnDealer

Once you log in to your site, navigate to Business Details and scroll to the Bottom. You will see the About Us editor box. Here's how it works and what you should use the different formatting options for.

Step one: we recommend writing out or pasting the entire About Us first then going in and making the changes to the Headings.

To add a heading, highlight the text, open the dropdown at the top left of the editor (it says Paragraph), and pick Heading 2. Use Heading 3 for smaller points under it. To switch back to normal text, pick Block Paragraph. Click Save Changes when you are done.

  • Block Paragraph: almost everything. "We deliver to all of Marion County."
  • Heading 2: section titles, 2 or 3 per page. "Sheds and Barns in Salem, OR"
  • Heading 3 or 4: only to split a long section. Most pages need none.
  • More headings won't rank you higher. Too many reads like shouting.

More headings won't rank you higher. Too many reads like shouting.

Need some extra help? Here's an About Us that you can copy/paste. You just need to fill in the placeholders - The top line of each paragraph should be marked as 'Heading 2' in the About Us Editor.

Keep in mind that a custom About Us with all the components mentioned above will always beat out one that's templated out.
