Completing a Google Business Profile Verification Video can be complicated and a little confusing. We did our best to make thorough instructions that will walk you through each step needed to get verified. We've broken this process down into three stages: Planning, Filming, and Approval. Google is a very large company and this process can take time and patience, but don't worry, we're here to help!

Planning – we highly recommend that you plan your video out and even practice doing it before actually filming. This will reduce the number of attempts you will need to do in order to get your video to upload.
  1. Google requires that you include certain things in your video so that they can verify that you are someone authorized to verify the business. These are things that you will want to show:
    • Location – if there are street signs or landmarks
    • Proof your business exists – storefront, lot, business name on permanent fixtures, etc.
    • Proof of management – using key to unlock door, logging in to computer and/or payment system
  2. Plan your route - keeping all of those things in mind, plan your route. We encourage you to do a route like this
    • Start at the street/sidewalk with the camera aimed at your office/storefront
    • Quickly turn the camera to show street signs, neighboring businesses, and/or landmarks
    • Walk toward your office and pan the camera (while walking) around the lot – Make sure to show any signage with your business name on it.
    • Use your key to unlock the office (you want to show that you have access to the building)
    • Walk to your desk/workspace and show any bills or business documents that have your business name and address on them
    • Login to your computer/payment software to show you have access
  3. Key things to remember when planning your route
    1. Video must be over 30 seconds
    2. Video cannot be under 2 minutes – Google doesn’t explicitly say this but it’s very rare for videos longer than two minutes to be able to upload
    3. Do not show:
      1. Other people’s faces
      2. Sensitive information (bank account numbers, tax id numbers, or other identification numbers,
      3. Other private information/documents about yourself or others
    4. You must use a mobile device to record the video – you will need a strong internet connection at the beginning and at the end of the filming process. If you have weak Wi-Fi consider using your cellular data only by turning off the Wi-Fi on your phone temporarily
Filming – Recording your verification video can be difficult and take many attempts. This is typically not your fault but because of the size of Google, there are often upload issues.
  • Don’t do the video when you’re rushed or don’t have a lot of time. Since it will likely take multiple attempts, you will likely need to set aside 30-60 minutes to do the filming step
  • Plan for a time when other people aren’t around (early in the morning or on a day you’re closed). No people can be shown in the video (cars driving by are typically okay)
  • Follow your plan and adjust it if necessary.
  • On your mobile device, go to business.google.com and login to your account.
  • Click “Get Verified”
  • Get in place for the start of your video and start filming
  • Once your video has been recorded, you will be prompted to upload your video. Stay in the same place while you complete this step, so you don’t lose connection during the upload process.
  • If you get an error message after your upload is complete, try the process again
    1. Many users say that it takes them multiple attempts to successfully send the video so don’t get frustrated if it takes 12+ times to get upload successfully.
Approval
  • Once the video verification uploaded is successful, Google will take time to review the video and check it against information in their system.
  • Regularly check the status of the verification by going to your Google Business Profile at business.google.com
  • Google doesn't typically notify you when a verification video has been approved. You will know that it's been approved because your Google Business Profile will be active and you will no longer have the "Get Verified" message.
